How Does My Website Get a Name ? All websites typically have a name - just like we are called www.bestwebhostingprovider.net.com - This is a name that points to the space on the web where your website is physically located. In reality, your website will have an address which is just a set of numbers. This is called an IP address and it looks something like this 205.11.109.64 An IP address is a unique address (just like a street address) for your website location. Domain names like www.bestwebhostingprovider.net.com are really just a pointer to the real address. This makes it much easier to remember websites. When you buy web hosting it can be easier to let the web host handle everything associated with this. You just tell them the name that you want (www.yoursite.com for example) and so long as that name is available, they will set up your web hosting space so that when people type in that www address, it will automatically go to your website. You can check if a domain name is available on our domain registration page. If you already have a domain name and need to transfer it to a web hosting account, then the domain records have to be pointed to your web hosting company. Most web hosts will handle this for you, but if you need to do it yourself then you will need to contact the company where you registered your domain name and provide the Nameserver address of your web hosting provider. Your web host will tell you what their Nameservers address is. You probably don't want to buy your web hosting plan until your website is ready, but you might want to buy your website name early to prevent somebody else taking the name you want. Almost all companies that sell domain names will park your domain on their servers until you are ready to buy web hosting.

 Lunarpages Visit Site
left

Lunarpages serves as the web hosting division of Add2Net, Inc. Its staff and technical support team has established an impressive six year history in the web hosting industry. This is relatively long considering that most web hosting companies are fly-by-night operations and in all reality, you need a company that will always be around. Lunarpages has earned a reputation as a provider with superior customer support and a solid data center. Unlike most web hosting companies, you can always get through the phone line with Lunarpages. Also, the $6.95 monthly plan offers everything you need in order to make the presence of your business successful on the web.

Reliability
Lunarpages has a long track record of offering quality hosting, with reliability and support representing cornerstones of their corporate culture. We experienced very little in the way of problems there and were impressed with the responsiveness of their staff in addressing those issues that did arise. Overall, their reliability is good, very good compared to most hosts, especially shared hosts. This alone easily landed them on our top 10 chart.

Price Value
Lunarpages offers decent pricing on their web-hosting plans. For a mere $6.95 a month, you receive 250 GB of space and 2500 GB of traffic per month. They also offer a $21.95 web-hosting package, which sports unlimited storage and a phenomenal 3 terabytes of monthly transfer. For most users, the $6.95 plan, the Basic Hosting plan, is sufficient, but it’s great to see a shared host offering as robust a plan as their Business Hosting plan for those with exceptional needs. They also offer Windows hosting and even Virtual Private Servers. All of their plans offer at least one free domain name registration, database support, web software such as blogs, forums, and Fantastico. They are among the more pricey of hosts, but are also among the most generous.

Control Panel
Lunarpages currently utilizes the latest version of the CPanel control panel system. The features are pretty much the same to other CPanel installations, such as mailbox modification, password and ftp login management, statistical tools and so on. CPanel doesn’t offer any web-building tool, but for web hosting administration it offers the user an easy and intuitive interface along with a plentitude of features. The performance of the control panel, during our review of Lunarpages, was decent. It was not as snappy as others on our list, but at the same time, it wasn’t bad either.

Customer Support
Lunarpages provides a superior level of customer service and they are very responsive to questions and concerns. Even questions submitted to their e-mail support are always answered in a timely manner. This sets them apart in an industry where email support tends to be the weakest link in otherwise solid support chains. Accounts are usually setup within thirty minutes to one hour of order verification. It is essential that a working phone number be provided in order for your account to be setup immediately. This is a bit more involved and time consuming than many similar hosts, but is understandable given the high rate of attempted fraud that occurs.
